WHAT IS DO IT FOR THE CULTURE?

Do It For The Culture is a premier music conference and festival, dedicated to amplifying underrepresented artists, particularly in Hip-Hop, R&B, and Afrobeats. Founded by Teon Gibbs, the event provides a platform for artists to showcase their talent, connect with industry professionals, and access career-building resources. With a strong focus on accessibility and regional representation, Do It For The Culture is reshaping Canada’s music landscape by creating equitable opportunities for emerging talent and bringing together professionals working in the Black music space.

After 4 successful years in Kelowna,  2026 marks the move from interior BC to the coast, as we celebrate year 5 in the heart of Vancouver!

Accessibility Info: The main room where our panels take place is on ground level with no stairs required

Accessibility info: There are 2 flights of stairs required to enter the venue, with no alternative entryways currently available

CAN I BUY ONE TICKET FOR THE FESTIVAL AND CONFERENCE?​

Unfortunately tickets for the festival must be purchased HERE, and tickets for the conference can be purchased  HERE

IS THE EVENT ONLY FOR PEOPLE OF COLOUR?​

Everyone is welcome (and encouraged!) to attend Do It for the Culture! While our focus is on showcasing underrepresented artists, we believe there is something for everyone to learn from and enjoy at both our conference and festival.

ARE MINORS ALLOWED?​

All ages are allowed to attend our conference, Aug 28-29th at the Beaumont Studios.

​

All of the evening showcases at Fortune Sound Club are 19+, and valid government issued ID will be required for entry.

DO YOU HAVE A SAFE SPACE POLICY?

Everyone is welcome and respected at Do It For the Culture events.  No harassment, racism, homophobia, or any form of discrimination will be tolerated. If you experience or see anything that makes you uncomfortable, please inform an organizer or venue employee.

Unfortunately all of our tickets are final sale, no refunds are available.
